Why are there more males infected with HIV/AIDS than females

Why are there more males infected with HIV/AIDS than females?
76% of people infected with HIV/AIDS are males. 24% females. Why is this? Its for extra credit in health and i cant find anything on the subject. Prostitution maybe? Cuz 1 female can give 10 guys aids

If my yearly pap exams are clean, could I still have an STD or HIV/AIDS

If my yearly pap exams are clean, could I still have an STD or HIV/AIDS?
I know my doctor checks for HPV because they found it about a year and a half ago. Since about a year ago, all of my paps have been clean.

It depends on what kind of pap you had. Most Drs. now test for hpv and Hiv with the pap. Ask your dr.
2 :
hpv is for life? flare ups come and go? have a hsv I and II
3 :
HIV is not on the list of test a Dr does with a pap. I have a friend who is a white 40 year old woman, married for 15 years, he Dr laughed at her when she asked for a HIV test. Yet her friend a African-American woman, same age, married is asked every year if she wants a HIV test. Can you say judgmental!! Ask for a HIV test, if you have never had one wait until your next pap or find a clinic that does HIV testing. Everyone should have a HIV test at least once a year.

omg no!!!!
2 :
no
3 :
no but you should get checked anyway!
4 :
The virus needs warmth and moisture to live. Most public washrooms don't fall into that catagory (now, public baths are another story...).
5 :
No I cant believe people actually still don't know how HIV works grammar school kids know this
6 :
no u don't catch HIV or any other STD by using public washroom. HIV virus dies as soon as it comes into open air. HIV virus lives only in blood and sexual discharges and gets transfer to other body when body fluids are shard by couples ( during sex )
7 :
No. Once the HIV/AIDS virus hits oxygen it dies. It can only be transferred through contact with other body fluids through that open sore. So if an infected person's blood or semen entered your open wound there would be a slight chance of it, but it's not likely. Below is a link to a page about another way people think you can get HIV and it's just not true. It also outlines that HIV cannot live outside it's human host long enough to infect anyone.
8 :
The virus can live for apparently 20 minutes outside of the human body. If there were body fluids on the toilet seat, AND an OPEN sore contacted them, there is a slight possibility. I would say, however, that the chances are slim to none that you caught it.
9 :
Nope! The simple reason why is that you need to have direct fluid to fluid contact (blood in your case), with a person who is infected (and even in the manner of which you describe, this is still unlikely because the sores are in your inner thigh area). The other, and more important reason for why you would not get it in this case, is that NO ONE acquires HIV/AIDS from sharing rest rooms because the HIV virus does NOT exist well in the outside environment, hence why it is not an AIRBORNE disease. Again, it is a disease that is spread by fluid to fluid contact (as mentioned above). Once it hits the outside air, it dies immediately. So, you are all good!
10 :
no
11 :
No. Once HIV is exposed to air, it only lives for a few minutes. You can't get it from a toilet seat or anything else in a public washroom.
12 :
NO. You can't get any thing from a public wash room. Most stds die quickly once they are away from the body and they don't like to live on dry objects for very long. You would have to sit on the seat with some one who has hiv/aids and have sex with them in order to get it that way. The sore could be a left over thing from the surgery. If you worried then have the sore tested.

How would HIV AIDS influence a persons lifestyle

How would HIV AIDS influence a persons lifestyle?
please help!

1 :
You have to be certain that you take your medicines every single day so that your HIV does not become full-fledged AIDS. Also, you need to make certain you legitimately always use protection because passing that disease on to anyone else would be a terrible thing to do.
2 :
be more specific. in what ways are you referring to?
3 :
even if you and your partner have hiv, you should still use protection as u both may have different strains of the virus. This could cause you to become seriously ill. eating a healthy diet and exercising will have a good impact on your over all health. Also taking the right medication and taking it daily will help

Can anyone suffer from HIV/AIDS if he has sex with more than 1 person, if all 3 of them are not HIV positive?
Can a person get HIV/AIDS if he or she has sex with more than 1 person if all of them are healthy and none of them is infected with HIV/AIDS?

No, not from having sex if no one is infected. However HIV is also transmissable via blood transfer, for example using a shared needle with an HIV infected drug user or from infected blood in a blood transfusion. (Most countries now screen all blood products for HIV). There are rarer possible forms of transmission but those are not likely to be encountered in most countries.
2 :
no it is only transmitted if the person is infected
3 :
There is still a risk of getting HIV from a person who had a negative HIV test if the test was done during the window period before seroconversion occurs. http://www.health-screening.sg/hiv-aids.php
4 :
No, if someone is infected with the virus then yes, somebody will get it.. Just use protection and try to stay safe because it is out there honey.. I just an HIV test 2 days ago and I'M STILL HEALTHY! I just thank God because I was so worried and scared.. Learn from this..

If I got an hiv/aids test at my doctors office, would my mom find out

If I got an hiv/aids test at my doctors office, would my mom find out?
I'm twenty, but still on her insurance. anyways, I'm worried I might have hiv/aids and want to get tested. if I go to my doctors office and got it done, would she find out?

1 :
You can always go and pay cash or just tell them you would rather not have the insurance cover it. That is the ONLY way she wouldnt find out.
2 :
If the bill goes to her address. Mostly likely, sense you are under her insurance.... But be safe and do it anyway regardless of if she'll know. It's better to be safe then sorry right?
3 :
They're 100% confidential. They won't even give you the results over the phone or in the mail, you have to come in person with your ID and they can only inform you about the results and by law are not allowed to even tell your parents you took the test much less what the results are, so don't worry about privacy, you should go get tested if you want to.
4 :
Never, under any circumstance procrastinate about asking for a HIV/STD/STI test. Your doctor is not allowed to discuss any medical history with another member of your family, or within/outside of their practice without your consent. Doing so can lead to the practice being sued for breach of privacy amongst other charges. I am unsure where you are as i did not read your location, however ask your doctor for a test, they should direct you where to go get your blood/urine tests. If you're afraid to ask your doctor outright for a HIV test, mask it within a bunch of other tests, and should he/she ask you why you want a HIV test, casually say that you are sexually active and want to maintain your health and wellbeing. Should the test be positive, the doctor will have no choice and will need to notify your health department. the tests usually take approximately 3 days and are delivered to your doctor. Good Luck.
5 :
Hi probably not then again if u were found out to be positve then different story otherwise even if she did find out what's it matter OK รข™¥
6 :
The best thing for you to do is to check the website hivtest.org to find free or low-cost testing sites in your area. Just enter your ZIP code. Some places charge by your income, others are free. The doctor can't say anything to her because testing is confidential. But if her insurance is billed, she would see it on her statement.
7 :
If you're really worried about it, don't go to your doctor. There are always places where you can get tested and have the results kept confidential. Look in your city phone book, yellow pages. If you don't see anything, then look for your local LGBT equality center and they can tell you where one is, or call the AIDS Hotline, they can give you the location of your nearest testing site. With most of these places, the testing is free, however, if you want the results back right away, there is usually a charge, and you can get the results usually within 24 hours. If you opt to not pay, it takes a couple of weeks to get your test results back. In most of the places, you don't even have to give your name, they give you a number, and match your number to your test results.
8 :
She would know unless you pay them right away like after the test is done. That way there wont be a bill

why is it that HIV/AIDS is too much spread in Africa

why is it that HIV/AIDS is too much spread in Africa?
I want to know because my country, Lesotho is one of the toppest countries that this disease has a high rate. This worries me?
STDs - 3 Answers

1 :
it's terrible, the main problem is lack of education, people are having unsafe sex. the education is getting better and the ammount of condoms avaliable but the african countries can't or won't afford it. and charities can only get so much. as massive proportion of people are very religious as well and don't believe in protection, some are also told 'it's a white mans way of keeping the balck populaton down'. personaly i think AIDS is going to keep the black population down more.
2 :
Lack of sex education. They do not have access to birth control. Condoms are not as readily available. Poor hygenic conditions... There is a million reasons. Sex needs to be discussed in an open manner, not hidden away like a dirty secret. People need to be educated.
3 :
It spreads because they don't have the money or knowledge to know how to protect themselves. They share needles, etc... Someone needs to go around and teach them about STDs.
