!!!!!!!!!Condom!!!!!!!!!!!
2 :
Following the rules of having safe sex, like condoms, pills etc and in a clean place.
3 :
We could all stop having sex and doing drugs...or isolate all those infected on a really big island... A more viable solution would be to have safe sex and don't share needles, but people have been preaching that for years with little effect.
4 :
The problem with AIDS and HIV is that many people who have HIV don't know it. So testing everyone who has had sex would be a good start at least many people who have it would at least know. awareness is a good start, but if people don't listen, it will continue to spread. Also, before anyone is let in to the U.S, should be tested.

Why is it "okay" for very young children to learn about HIV/AIDS

Why is it "okay" for very young children to learn about HIV/AIDS?
My little cousin (girl) who's in first grade learned about HIV/AIDS and sex from her teacher at school. I thought she's too young to learn about that. Why is it "okay" for her to learn that? (I don't believe she has a bad teacher) I'm not a parent people! She's only my little COUSIN

It's not really a question as to whether or not it's okay for HER to learn it...but I think what the real question is to ourselves...WHY SHOULDN'T WE TEACH THIS TO OUR KIDS...by all means, both you and I know .... that hey, it's (HIV and AIDS) is out there...so the more they know and the sooner they know it...the better equipped they are to avoid, handle, and deal with it. Knowledge IS power.
2 :
Good question. It's unlikely that we'll see any cure or vaccine in this lifetime, so I believe it's essential that children are aware of all of the implications that go with any social situation - sex being one of them. Children are getting "older" so to speak and it's impossible to shelter them from life, so it's best to arm them with the unbiased facts, rather than let them learn the long way round via the hysteria from the media or stupidity of the ignorant. HIV/AIDS treatments are becoming better and better, but at the same time - the younger generation are becoming a little too complacent in their regard for safe sex; they may not realise that the treatments involved aren't a quick fix and have other implications and side affects. I believe it's essential to get this out in the open with children as soon as they start learning about sex; not doing so would be like teaching someone to drive a car without showing them the brakes. Hope that helps.
3 :
well maybe you should talk to the teacher that you would rather not have him/her teach it in class. My dad did that when my brother was in 2nd grade. So they went to a differant topic. Say you would rather teach ur kid. :)
4 :
No. it isn't really ok for first graders to learn specifics about any diseases. Especailly HIV and the sex talk is for at home or at temple/church/mosque NOT school. The people that say it is ok for children to learn all of this stuff will be the first to scream when people want to show aborted fetuses in public and show girls ultrasounds before the abortion. Knowledge is only power when they agree with it!
5 :
I think that it is important for kids to know about HIV because they may try to be "blood brothers" . They don't need to know the sexual stuff yet.
6 :
I think any sex talk in the first grade is improper. HIV/AIDS education is very important, even at this age because so many people are affected by it, but there was no need to mention sex at this age. I'm sure she's not a "bad teacher", but even good teachers can have a momentary lapse of good judgment.

why the HIV/AIDS epidemic in South Africa is so severe

why the HIV/AIDS epidemic in South Africa is so severe?
Give me your reasons?
Infectious Diseases - 2 Answers

1 :
I think one reason is because the people who live there don't have as much access to sex education as we do. They aren't educated on how to prevent or lessen the chance of contracting S.T.D.s.
2 :
1) AIDS originated in Africa and has had longer to spread. 2) Profound and widespread ignorance, and illiteracy. They don't know condoms would help... but then they often don't know that intercourse -> conception. 2a) Promiscuity due to 2) 3) Lack of access to care and drugs that treat AIDS. 4) Lack of access to facilities that Diagnose HIV/AIDS 5) Religious beliefs: The Pope of the Catholic Church has told these wretched people -and continues to preach- that the usage of condoms is a mortal sin. -MDx30y

How do you NOT get HIV/AIDS

How do you NOT get HIV/AIDS?

not having sex is a great way to make sure you don't get it or any STD's
2 :
Use safe sex methods: use condoms (not the new polyutherane or the lamb's) stay with a trusting partner don't have sex with anyone.
3 :
DON'T FOOL AROUND!!!!!!!!
4 :
Abstinence is the only 100% way to prevent pregnancy & HIV. There is also condoms & not sleeping around. But neither of those is going to be 100%.
5 :
Keep your pants on until you and your partner get tested. Don't share needles. Don't hang out with people with questionable lifestyles (drug users, swingers, cheaters...).
6 :
If you are not going to practice abstinence (not having sex) then make sure to use a condom (the only effective birth control method for STD's) and it may also be a good idea to use some other form of birth control (such as the pill, to reduce the risk of pregnancy). As long as you are having sex there is always going to be a risk of STD's and pregnancy, but there are ways to reduce that risk. Also, make sure that you trust your partner and you should both get checked for STD's before you engage in sexual activity.
7 :
Well, abstinence is a great way to prevent both. If, however, you want to enjoy a healthy sex life, use protection. That includes condoms as well as birth control pills. The condoms will also help prevent herpes and other STDs. Also make sure your partner is healthy and AIDS free.
8 :
Abstinance and don't do drugs.
9 :
not having sex is a very good way of not getting any kind of STI's/ STDs and also hiv/aids. using contraceptives is also a good way but not 100% so dont rely on it. Not having sex is a very good way of not gettin cervical cancer also. having contact with blood from a hiv/aids sufferer is a very strong way of contracting hiv/aids, and most bodily fluids. kissing is ok as it would take about 8 pints of saliva from an hiv/aids sufferer for you to catch it. Thats a lot of kissing.
10 :
You know more people dies in one day because of hepatitis B infection than in one year by Aids/HIV.Dont involve yourself in un protected sexual intercourse any time even with your known person !Today no vaccine is available to make you immune but it is the pipe line !Till than dont take any injections or dont get hurt with with non sterlised needle.Dont come in contact with breech on your part through which the blood of the person who is already HIV possitive is comes in contact!!Remember it is not transmitted through saliva or hand shaking or a kiss!Dont go for blood transfusion without having tested for HIV and Hepatitis B even!!
11 :
dont fuck no one

HIV/AIDS from dry humping? Top Contributors and others Any idea

HIV/AIDS from dry humping? Top Contributors and others Any idea ?
Is it possible to contract HIV from dry humping if both participants were naked and genitals were touching and rubbing without penetration? My GF is virgin and i know am not infected but afraid she is

1 :
Yes if your genitals touched it's possible. If she is a virgin it's very unlikely that she has HIV
2 :
man why would you think taht???...............if your that worried bout it go get tested.
3 :
There is a risk, but it is low. (There is only a risk if she IS HIV+, do you know for sure that she is?) It is more common for HIV to be transmitted from males to males or males to females than vice versa, but it could happen.
4 :
umm maybe but...but idk
5 :
If she's indeed infected and she had vaginal lube go on your penis while you were humping her but teh temperature has to be a certain temp it is possible.
6 :
HIV is transmitted through body fluids (i.e. blood, sex organ secretions) which allow the virus to find a good spot to bore down into in the lining of a mucous membrane. This is especially easier for the virus when the lining is torn through some sort of rough manipulation (making anal sex a very efficient way of transmitting the virus). Because of this, women are 500 (yes, 500) times more likely than men to become infected with HIV through sexual contact (because of the nature of the vaginal canal acting like the perfect habitat for microbes). Dry humping, then, is not an effective method for transmitting the virus, especially from an infected woman to a non-infected man. However, anything is possible as viruses are tricky little devils, but such contact transmission is rare. If you have any question in your mind at all, then abstain from the behavior until you get tested with your girlfriend. It's that simple. Why is it, by the way, that you are afraid she has HIV? You don't trust that she is a virgin (or you think she got it from some other way)? If she has a very limited sexual history then what's the problem and what makes you suspect it in the first place?
7 :
If your GF is a virgin then how did she get infected? From using dirty needles or a blood transfusion? Look you're CRAZY to even think of getting naked and letting your genitals touch someone who MIGHT be infected with HIV. Yes, you can get infected from open-mouth kissing her! Some people say that you can't but ANY exchange of bodily fluids (including saliva) can be dangerous such as if you have an open would in your mouth or on your lips such as a blister or pimple!! Don't risk it! It's not worth your life! make her get tested or don't go near her!!! If you get infected, you die. Plain and simple. Why gamble with your life???

are there any HIV/AIDS clinics in smithfield north carolina?
i am doin a research project and need to find as much info about AIDS and HIV as possible.

I doubt Smithfield has a specific clinic for hiv/aids...more likely there's a county health clinic there in Johnston County that would cover it as part of their general duties. Another place to look would be the Carolina Alliance of AIDS Services. They're a regional organization located in downtown Raleigh. ( http://www.aas-c.org )

AIDS (Acquired ImmunoDeficiency Syndrome) is caused by HIV (Human immunodeficiency virus), which is spread through contact of bodily fluids. It is also present a virus in the infected cells. It is a disease of the immune system. It starts to "break down" the immune system which leaves the body open to infection. It isn't the HIV/AIDS that kills you; its the diseases you acquire from the lack of working immune system. The Common Cold can be lethal when you cant fight it. It can be pick up from Breast Milk, Semen, Vaginal Fluids, Blood (Including Transfusions and Cuts) and the sharing of Hypodermic Needles. The symptoms are different as well. Where as HIV causes symptoms similar to common infections, such as sores and muscle pains, AIDS causes symptoms similar to cancers and reinfections. Tumors begin to grow, and Meningitis, and Encephalitis, can occur. It is one of the biggest dangers from the contact of bodily fluids, and is as high as 25% in some parts of the world (Africa, or even Asia). However, it has lead to a large increase in safe sex since its discovery. In the last 20-30 years, the risk of acquiring immune problems has lead to less risk taking, especially in places with high infection rate. This could also be helping to stop the spread of other STDs.
