I think one reason is because the people who live there don't have as much access to sex education as we do. They aren't educated on how to prevent or lessen the chance of contracting S.T.D.s.
2 :
1) AIDS originated in Africa and has had longer to spread. 2) Profound and widespread ignorance, and illiteracy. They don't know condoms would help... but then they often don't know that intercourse -> conception. 2a) Promiscuity due to 2) 3) Lack of access to care and drugs that treat AIDS. 4) Lack of access to facilities that Diagnose HIV/AIDS 5) Religious beliefs: The Pope of the Catholic Church has told these wretched people -and continues to preach- that the usage of condoms is a mortal sin. -MDx30y
