Ignore that douche bag, he obviously knows nothing about HIV or AIDs, if he did he would know anyone can get it and he will probably step on a needle one day and realize that the hard way. The idea all together is new and original to me, maybe find a quote or song about the fight against and find meaningful words and get a tattoo of words. Sorry I can't really think of a picture or art that could describe it.

They have a yellow ribbon for AIDS, like they have pink robbon for breast cancer, maybe you could use that Or tattoo some statistics, like 2008= something many people died of HIV and something died of AIDS Or maybe find some famous quotes from the net and add and AIDS theme

First let me say having lost a best friend to this illness, and knowing many others affected by it, I really empathise with your cause. The classic emblem for HIV/AIDS awareness is the red ribbon, however you must understand that unfortunatly, there is still a lot of stigma associated with this disease, and so, ill feeling may be attached (by the ignorrant) to any related symbology, so be very careful about what and where, or you may be setting yourself up for a lot of hardship in the future, I would suggest something a little subtle, which is what your asking anyway so: A candle-world AIDS day vigil and all that A patchwork quilt -The AIDS rememberence quilt Hands holding-unity against the stigma and the illness I had a dragonfly, cuz my mate loved them and they represent spirit and soul and rebirth-like butterflies-work something into the wings of a butterfly so it aint to obvious.
