It actually invades the cells and destroy it.
2 :
because it's an immune deficiency. it attacks the immune system specifically. people don't die of the disease itself, they die of illnesses they get because their immune system is compromised.
3 :
HIV/AIDS destroys all the white blood cells and eventually you will have no more protection from the virus. But why do you care? You're a ninja right?
4 :
HIV is a virus that colonises the immune system It clones itself inside your body and KILLS your immune cells. It continues to kill your immunity until your whole system is dead. Once your immune system is dead you then have AIDS (auto immune deficiency syndrome). Your body no longer has any protection against viruses and bacteria.
5 :
Gradually breaks down the bodys defence system over time that the simplest diseases can attack or kill you without the proper treatment that is lol thank you gets in the cells that defends you from illnesses and fights off infections manufactures more of itself till no defence left at all anti retro viral therapy helps thoughT Cells level of gets monitored daily of the person
6 :
Your white blood cells have a role in the immune system to attack against invaders and I believe keep a memory of the invader, so if that specific invader attacks again, it won't affect you; it will be eliminated as soon as possible. However, when the HIV/AIDS virus enters into your system, the white blood cell can't wrap itself around the virus to fight it and keep a memory of it, so the virus enters into the white blood cell to multiply, thus destroying it. I think that's how it goes, anyway. So basically, you have less white blood cells to fight against invaders, and the invaders stay in your system longer, causing more damage than necessary. See, all HIV/AIDS does is lower your immune system respone, so it's really the common cold that can give you the final blow; or at least a long one, anyway.
7 :
Here for the point :) all I know is that yes it does weaken the immune system by killing off the white blood cells but that's it good luck
8 :
Here you go...Acqired Immune Deficiency Syndrome is caused by HIV which enters your T4 helper cells. These Lymphocytes are part of your white blood cells which help T4 helper cell help stimulate the B cells (subset of Lymphocytes) to make Immunoglobulins, but when the T4h cells are infected they can't stimulate the Bcells to make immunoglobulins and eventually certain oppertunistic diseases are able to infect the host. In a nut shell.

Check out the Wikipedia entry for HIV. It does a pretty good job of explaining the retrovirus and how it affects the human body. There are also several good graphic illustrations of the replication process.

Would you line up to get your child vaccinated for HIV/AIDS

Would you line up to get your child vaccinated for HIV/AIDS?
Which country would host the unlucky dupes to line their babies up for the experimental HIV/AIDS vaccine? ...and how much of a sheep do you have to be to hand your children over as the sacrificial guini pigs? Man, what lemmings people are!! They would risk their child's life for a vaccine, Something that is sexually transmitted, no waiting for adulthood or even teens to get a vaccine? Seriously, are you shocked when your child has permanent brain damage?

I would in a heart beat if I lived in a county that had a 50% death rate from Aids. Like the some of the Africian counties. Even if it is only partly effective the chance the your child would live would be greater, The Question should be what parent would not line up to have a chance to save thier child's life?
2 :
Normally, I'm in favor of vaccines because I had a lot of ear infections as a child and would be deaf if I hadn't had to take an awful tasting medicine that came in an indestructible bottle. HIV/AIDS, I'd have to see the result data before I'd even consider it. Because I don't have kids, it's not a personal concern.
3 :
Yes, I would have my child vaccinated for the HIV/AIDS virus. What idiot wouldn't. It's like all the other vaccine's, we get them to protect them. Think about how bad it would be if there were no vaccinations. Did you get yours as a child? How could you deny a child a healthy life now or as an adult just because you petty?
4 :
NOW NOW JANE (JUST VIEWED YOUR UPDATE), EVERYONE HAS A RIGHT TO THEIR OWN OPINIONS, IF YOU CAN'T CONSIDER OTHERS OPINIONS ALSO, THEN DON'T ASK FOR THEM. MORE THAN 30 EXPERIMENTAL VACCINES ARE NOW IN VARIOUS STAGES OF HUMAN TESTING IN MORE THAN 24 COUNTRIES ON PEOPLE WHO ALREADY HAVE THE HIV VIRUS, NOT AIDS. IT IS ONLY GIVEN TO PEOPLE WHO HAVE THE VIRUS TO SEE IF IT WILL STOP THEM FROM GETTING FULL BLOWN AIDS. IT WILL BE MANY MANY YEARS ANYWAY BEFORE THERE IS A PREVENTION OF BOTH IF THEY EVER FIND ONE ANYWAY, SO WE REALLY DON'T NEED TO BE WORRIED ABOUT LINIING UP FOR IT IN OUR LIFETIME OR OUR CHILDRENS LIFETIME, ETC. BELOW IS WHERE I GOT THE INFORMATION OF THE ALREADY HIV PEOPLE WHO ARE TAKING THE VACCINE TO SEE IF IT STOPS THEM FROM GETTING FULL BLOWN AIDS. THAT IS ALL THE VACCINE IS FOR RIGHT NOW, FOR PEOPLE THAT HAVE HIV BUT NOT FULL BLOWN AIDS AND THIS IS JUST IN THE TESTING STAGES. http://www.webmd.com/news/20060816/new-hope-HIV-vaccine ALSO I REALLY DON'T APPRECIATE BEING CALLED A RODENT BECAUSE I HAVE AN OPINION. A LEMMING MEANS THE FOLLOWING: Any of various small, thickset rodents, especially of the genus Lemmus, inhabiting northern regions and known for periodic mass migrations that sometimes end in drowning. http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/LEMMINGS I am sure people thought about that when chicken pox vaccine came out, small pox, measles, etc., and so forth. What I am trying to say is that if there were a vaccination for HIV/AIDS, it would definitely be tested first just like all the other vaccines were tested. Yes, I understand that it has to be tested on humans. But at one time small pox, measles, and other diseases that we are vaccinated for today were killing children and adults by in immeasurable numbers. A parent will do anything to protect their child from any disease and take whatever chances to ensure their health and safety. Aids and HIV is rampant in 3rd world countries (especially in children and many, many children die everyday from AIDS and HIV especially in Africa). I guarantee you those parents would line up in a heart beat. Yes, if a vaccination came out for HIV/AIDS, I would take my child also just like taking my child for any other vaccine to protect them.
5 :
I would actively refuse any vaccinations. Aids was cultured in 1957 while trying to make immunisations. There are other ways to prevent and cure dis-ease. Dr Rife made a machine that cured all diseases. Dr Hulda Clark has many great works and testimonials for healing in her books also how to make a zapper. Colloidal silver works on many (650 stated) bacteria, virus and fungus. Quote from web site "COLLOIDAL SILVER AND AIDS Since in active AIDS, the suppressed immune system of the body is open to all kinds of diseases, colloidal silver is the perfect non-toxic drug to use for its wide spectrum antibiotic effect. A researcher at Brigham Young University sent colloidal silver to two different labs including UCLA Medical Centre, which said, it killed not only the HIV Virus (invitro), but every virus that was tested in the lab. According to the FDA rules, colloidal silver cannot be used for treating the HIV Virus, but it could be used as an antibiotic for all the acquired diseases of active AIDS." .
6 :
there / is no such thing
7 :
Just like all other vaccines, I would refuse. I do not believe that it is in my children's best interest to inject them with potentially harmful substances.

Why is democracy good in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa

Why is democracy good in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Africa?
how will establishing a democracy in those countries help in the fight?

Not sure it will There are other countries that are not democracies where the HIV/AIDS infection rate is low. I think that condems will help more. Or perhaps just better education
2 :
I honestly don't think it will. Yet it also depends on what you mean by democracy. Democracy as a broad political theory where the people are either directly involved or are offered a free vote and representatives can be helpful but a perfect democracy does not exist its a concepts. American Democracy in specific would never work in Africa and would not fight AIDS. Transplanting a political system upon a culture where it had never existed is difficult at best and for the most part impossible. Any stable non-totalitarian government could help fight AIDS. Several important factors have been shown to decrease the numbers of people contracting AIDS in Africa these include economic initiatives that lift countries out of debt from the World Bank, in turn the governments that are there can divert more resources and attention toward education, treatment, and more widespread usage and access to condoms, all of course with some help from foreign aid. There is more but this isn't an essay. I hope this helps.
3 :
BECAUSE IT IS THE ONE THAT INTRODUCED HIV/AIDS IN THE FIRST PLACE!! thanks america for the vaccines! =)
