different people, different circumstances

hiv stands for human immunodeficiency virus. as the name states, hiv attacks the immune system. of course, no two immune systems are alike. in fact, there are cells called T-cells that help the body fight off foreign substances. different people have different numbers of these cells. for people with a weak immune system, hiv will be extremely destructive. this is why children and the elderly have a very high mortality rate if they are infected. also, hiv is a virus that mutates at an above average rate. this means that no two viruses are exactly the same, so it makes sense that even people with similar immune systems have different responses to hiv. once hiv becomes aids (acquired immunodificiency syndrome), the symptoms are similar for most people.

Same reason that you would for caring for anyone with a terminal illness - because you love them.
4 :
go to some site nah and theyll tell you what to do?neways tc and all the best with the one u wanna live with
5 :
Well, if you wind up with HIV/AIDS, you'll wish you hadn't.
6 :
1: Don't attempt to transmute your blood. 2: Keep clean, no germs as the immune system is weakened 3: Keep meds going, if you miss even one dose that could make the virus get its defences up and the meds will not work as well 4: You may hug, share utincels, be in same pool, use same toilet. Deep kissing is a no because that is a risk. 5: Most importantly, love them, be patient. HIV/AIDS is a horrible horrible thing but you can still love them.
7 :
If you're asking how not to get HIV from an infected person, don't share IV needles or have sexual intercourse with him/her. Basically if you're exchanging body fluids, you're asking for an infection. An exception is saliva, so it's ok to kiss.

In a Physical For a New Job are Hiv/Aids,and STD's being Checked In a Complete Blood Count and Urinalysis

In a Physical For a New Job are Hiv/Aids,and STD's being Checked In a Complete Blood Count and Urinalysis?
I have to do a Physical For my new job Next Week(Police Officer) and was just curious...

no a full blood count does mot test for HIV or AIDS and urinalysis doesn't detect it either.
2 :
I would ask them what is included in your physical, and be sure to get copies of any test results - just for your own records. I assume that they can test for pretty much anything they want - as long as they have your permission to do so. If you are in the US, they aren't allowed to have medical records that you do not have access to, and I don't think that they can legally test you for anything that you don't want to be tested for. Of course, to get the job, you'll want to give your consent, but at least you'll know what you're giving your consent FOR. All this basically means that I have no idea what they will and won't test for - but that they COULD test you for pretty much anything.
3 :
With a CBC, HIV and STIs cannot be detected. With a standard urinalysis, HIV and STIs cannot be detected. However, there are urine tests for HIV and STIs --- while these are not tested for in a standard urinalysis, if they have a sample of your urine the tests could be performed. They must have consent to test you for HIV. When you are going for your physical you have a right to ask the physician what exactly he is testing you for.

People are STILL uneducated and ignorant about HIV/AIDS... just recently I answered a question of a woman who wouldn't allow her kids to hug/kiss their aunt because she had HIV. It's amazing how people these days are still so very uneducated about it and paranoid that they might catch it. When in reality they're the ones who should educate themselves on how to protect themselves. Everyone is still under the impression that if you contract HIV/AIDS that you must be a drug addict or a whore. They don't even take into account of the possibility that it's a simple accident, blood transfusion, or getting infected by someone who didn't know they had it or didn't inform them. My step-dad has had HIV for almost 20 years and we're all still very careful around him. I'm so sorry about your friends.

Thank you for posting this! I am floored by the level of ignorance when it comes to HIV and AIDS. My 9-year-old son knows more about it than some of these idiots! Just to review, kids - you can't get AIDS from: Kissing Holding hands Hugging Sharing straws, food utensils, plates, etc Airborne droplets (sneezing, coughing) And your germy a ss is far more dangerous to an AIDS patient than they are to you. They are immunocompromised. You probably aren't. Behavior that will put you at risk for ALL STDs: Promiscuity, safe or unsafe. Condoms aren't 100%. Oral, anal or vaginal intercourse, "completion" isn't needed to spread infections! Sharing needles, which you should not be using anyway. I hope this clears things up a bit. Be safe everyone.
3 :
Well I know that for me and knowing that a lot of ppl are not careful in protecting themselves and NEVER get tested , which accounts for the major rise in HIV infections, ppl that have it dont even know it. That is what TRULY SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME! so I only have sex with a condom and only after getting to know someone. Besides HIV is a scary issue not to be taken lighty.

Do HIV/AIDS patients have to inform their partners

Do HIV/AIDS patients have to inform their partners?
Does anyone know of a credible source that states whether or not people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS have to inform all of their previous sexual partners of their diagnosis?

Yes its a law to tell anyone you may come into contact with like dentist, doctor, partner please inform them unless you want to go to jail because they can sue you
2 :
I respectfully disagree with the first answerer. I live in the state of Louisiana and in this state it is a felony to have HIV and to not inform your sexual partner or your doctors and or your dentist. If you infect another person with them not knowing the truth they have the right to prosecute and you will go to prison. It is a law in this state and it should be a law in all states. It is wrong to give it to others.
3 :
Do the right thing by telling them
4 :
Do you have HIV, Kellyn J? If so, you might wanna tell your best friend. but just to help you out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criminal_transmission_of_HIV#Example_Statute

Yes. http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=940DEEDB123BF932A35754C0A96E948260
6 :
yes, you don't want to infect others

No, I think not. I did see a documentary though about how some people are resistant to it, but they aren't sure exactly why. They said that the some of same people who have been found resistant to HIV are decendants of people who seemed to be resistant to the black plague... seems theres some link there. Maybe once they figure out what it is for sure, there'll be a cure! This is EXTREMELY rare though and doesn't occur in large groups of people.... like a whole tribe!
2 :
their may be some tribes that do not have the aids, HIV virus in the tribe ,, but that means that it has not arrived yet in the village.. but no man woman or child in the world is immune to this disease..........
3 :
I'm not sure about an entire tribe, however, there are a few individuals that seem to have "beaten" the virus. A couple that comes to mind are a mother/daughter team of whores.
4 :
their is nothing like that. AIDS does not know anything about tribes, it only knows human

Is there any medical proof behind the idea that homosexual males are at a higher risk for HIV/AIDS

Is there any medical proof behind the idea that homosexual males are at a higher risk for HIV/AIDS?
Please note the word "medical." As in not "statistical."

A higher percentage of the gay community has hiv so yes.
2 :
I think at one time...actually not very long ago...this was the case. it all started because it seemed the gay community was most widely affected. but now, african american females have the highest percentages of HIV/AIDS.
3 :
Yes. HIV/AIDS is essentially a disease spread by male-male anal sex and IV drug use (shared needles). There is a large contigency that wants this truth suppressed because they are trying to protect gays from discrimination....which one could argue is leading more and more gay people to their deaths.
4 :
There is a trend which has led many ignorant people to believe that HIV/AIDS is a "gay" disease and anyone who has contracted it has participated in a homosexual activity. While it is true that there does appear to be some correlation between the sexual orientation of someone and their chances to contract HIV, this is not to say that heterosexuals are immune to it in any sense of the word. As far as medical proof, I'm afraid that I can't think of any study that found a definitive correlation. If you're scared about the prospect of contracting it through homosexual relations, then it's probably more irrational than you realize. You have the same risk of contracting it regardless of the sex of the individual you are having sex with. Regardless of who you are having sex with, using a condom SIGNIFICANTLY reduces the risk of un-planned pregnancy, STDs, and AIDS. It is also a good idea to urinate after sex as soon as possible as the acid in your urine can kill most STDs that you may have inadvertantly contracted. Regardless of how careful you are, there is always a possibility of getting an STD or AIDS, as such you should do your best to be aware of your partner's conditions if any exist. Should you manage to contract it: A) It is not God taking his vengance upon the homosexual agenda [I don't like to get religious, but come on...] B) Don't Panic.... There are plenty of ways to treat it and it's mortality rate is far lower than it was in the '80s when it first appeared. C) refrain from having sexual contact with anyone in danger of contracting it from you (which is everyone who doesn't already have it). D) Contact all partners that you have been with as soon as possible and tell them to get themselves tested. E) people with AIDS can lead a very normal life. For more information, head to wikipedia. http://www.wikipedia.org/AIDS
5 :
man to man sex is the easiest most efficient way to pass on the HIV Virus. Tissue in the rectum is very thin and tears easily, making it VERY likely that partners of HIV positive gay men will contract the virus after one act of intercourse. The odds are higher that hetero sex, lesbian sex and even needle sharing. so yes, it is an easily spread disease amongst the gay community. and it is an epidemic in gay communities.
