Does a condom prevent a person from getting HIV/AIDS?

Where have you been?!?! A condom lowers the risk but does NOT prevent. You can also contract it if the female performs oral sex on the male. I don't think it works the other way though...
2 :
1.) No 2.) Yes
3 :
A condom is not 100% effective against HIV/AIDS or pregnancy, using it correctly is, however, the best option. Their is HIV in semen, therefore, there is some chance of contracting HIV from oral sex, however, there are very, very few cases where this might have happened and the chances are very slim. DO NOT brush your teeth before hand, open cuts in the mouth greatly increase the risk.
4 :
uhhhhhhm i dont really know srry
5 :
any opening in the condum can cause you to get whatever partener has. however you can spread diseases through oral sex if their are any openings to your blood stream
6 :
A condom is only 99.9% effective when used properly. Assuming the lord hasn't forsaken your pathetic soul you should be fine. The oral sex is definately out of the question though. It is very likely that you would contract HIV from a person that has it through oral sex.
7 :
I'm not a doctor. But as far as i know, AIDS is not transmitted through saliva. Unless there's a cut/open wound somewhere that somehow enables the virus to enter your system. Condoms give protection up to approx. 99.9% of the time. Final advise, be choosy about your sexual partner.
8 :
Not 100% sure on that one. It's not worth trying to find out.
9 :
Hi , yes you can still get HIV or any other std even when using a condom , yes you can virus is get by oral sex ,, there is no 100% safe sex,,, my advise to you is to be very careful, ((((SAFE SEX IS NO SEX)))) you need to know that you can have one second of pleasure and a lifetime of horror,, good luck Leena
10 :
Yes a condom can prevent it if used right and every time you have sex. Yes it is possible to contract the virus by oral sex. Anytime you exchange bodily fluids. If the guy would have an open cut in his mouth he could pass the virus to you.
11 :
most denfleny you can .?
12 :
It doesn't prevent the transmission of the virus.
13 :
No, a condom does not necessarily prevent you from getting HIV/AIDS.. It simply decreases it.. Remember HIV is spread through bodily fluids of an INFECTED person. In order to get HIV from oral sex in the scenario that you described the person would have to be HIV positive. Research has proven that HIV is found in minute amounts of HIV positive person's saliva. It is best to use a dental dam or use an oral condom when giving or receiving such. Beyond HIV, so many other STI's can be spread from oral copulation such as Herpes Simplex 1 and 2, which is also uncurable. Ultimately, you have to remember the chain of infection as I am learning this in school. Some conditions have to be met. 1) there has to be a microbe HIV .2) There has to be a Reservoir where it replicates. IE, inside a person's body. 3) There has to be a point of exit, Semen, breast milk, rarely saliva, cut open wound etc.. 4) Mode of Transmission Directly, sex to sex or via sexual intercourse, transfusion 5) There has to be a point of entry from the receiver---Like sex,--vaginal anal, oral etc... 6) There has to be a susceptible host... This is the entire population.. When these conditions are met all the time.. This is how infections such as HIV are spread as well as other infection in general... So....YES, YES, YES, you can contact HIV during oral sex as the giver or receiver of such if your partner is infected with the various. This can be with or without symptoms. Remember, during oral sex, it is possible to tear the skin little abrasions. and this provides a point of entry. If you are providing oral sex to the male, the semen if it is within your mouth, remember we brush our teeth, this creates tears in the mucous membranes in the mouth.. The key to this who thing is always yes a possibility of spreading infection if you or your parter are HIV positive. Final recommendation.. Always use protection and get tested. People live long lives with HIV..Early detection is the key too.
14 :
It reduces the risk by 99.9% and yes you can contract AIDS from oral sex.
15 :
Depends..........but yes a condom can prevent a person from getting HIV/AIDS. But it depends on how DURABLE the condom is.
16 :
Prevent 100% no, but it's the best option, if used correctly it has a 97% of effectiveness. Any time you exchanche body fluids, be it semen, saliva, etc... The virus travels through the liquids, and takes advantage if there's any open sore in your mouth, genitals to get directly into your bloodstream

How many people are really afraid of getting HIV/AIDS

How many people are really afraid of getting HIV/AIDS?

i have been happily married to one man for 14 years. in a monogamous relationship. he is a cop, fireman, and in the military, he is more exposed than i, but takes precautions in situations where he must. i have no fear of hiv/aids.
2 :
HIV is actually a hard virus to get. Hard in the fact it's only transmitted by body fluids and direct contact. If it were transmitted via air, mosquitoes, etc we would all be screwed. Don't sleep around, use protection, stay away from needle drugs and chances are you will be fine. If you are personally worried about it, chances are you are engaging in activities that gives you a higher risk. I would suggest a lifestyle change.
3 :
Nope I protect myself. I dont make it your everyday part of life....lord knows we already have enough things to worry about. Just protect yourself when you have sex, dont share needles and you'll be fine!
4 :
I'm really afraid of getting HIV/AIDS.My nephew died of it,and he really suffered.believe me that is one disease you don't want to die of,trust me?
5 :
I don't know my stance on it---I guess i would be more afraid of my children and family seeing me die that way----Not trying to be rude discriminate or mean---but when someone is dying of multiple infections that there poor immune system can't fight---it's ugly painful and extremely sad I used to work in a hospital in a Gay Community and I saw HIV/AIDS every day. People who die of AIDS suffer like you wouldn't believe, the constant pain. and then they're on so many pain killers and medication that they're incoherent. I would hate for my family to suffer like that as well---seeing me in pain--suffering----severly ill---and they are powerless---it's a heart wrenching feeling to see someone you love suffer so badly and you're just standing there helpless---all you can do is hold a hand---talk a bit---read to them---and comfort them and make them as comfortable as possible and pray there suffering comes to an end......
6 :
I'm terrified of gettin ANY STD thats why I stay strapped like a soldier in Iraq
7 :
Not me. I don't have unprotected sex, and don't date chicks that do. It could be the hottest chick in the world and if she is one that sometimes doesn't care and doesn't use condoms then hell no, she's not for me. I'd rather have sex with a prostitute. They honestly are safer than regular chicks these days. Because they always use safety. They don't go to the club get drunk, and forget to put one on. I'm not intending to put all blame on the women, but I don't date men so they don't concern me.
8 :
everybody u fucking idiot
9 :
WHO WOULDN'T BE AFRAID TO GET HIV/AIDS?
10 :
I am! I live in a city that is ranked in the top 5 for new aids/hiv cases each year. I get especially get nervous when I think about an ex of mine that was cheating on me with crack heads and drug addicts while we were dating. Who knows what they carried! We had unprotected sex. I thought it was safe because 'we loved each other and he would never lie or cheat on me!' I've been tested, and I don't have it. I do get tested every year when I go to the gyno. So far so good. I practice safer sex than before now.
11 :
im not now but i was married to someone who like to go out and have sex with whoever and i worried forever that he gave it to me. ive tested negative so far.........
12 :
Not enough people. Too many people think it won't happen to me.

Question about transfer of HIV/AIDS when snorting drugs

Question about transfer of HIV/AIDS when snorting drugs?
My girlfriend has a drug problem--she is addicted to painkillers. She just recently decided that she prefers to snort pills rather than take them orally. This past week, one of her friends (a girl) who also likes to snort pills came over and I noticed that they had been sharing a snorting straw when doing their business. I have no knowledge of whether this other girl is HIV/AIDS positive, but I'm curious as to whether or not my girlfriend was at risk of contracting the virus.

Possible through the lining and fluids in the nose.
2 :
Yes. If the girl that may have HIV/AIDS got mucous from her nose on it and then your girlfriend touched the inside of her nose with the same straw she may contract it. Confront her about it to make sure that she is safe :)
3 :
Yes it is possible, but not probable.
4 :
Yes. There is also a risk of transmission of Hep C this way. Encourage your friend to get help for her addiction.

Do hospitals test for HIV/AIDS during a simple blood test

Do hospitals test for HIV/AIDS during a simple blood test?
I had a doctors appointment recently. i haven't been to the doctor in a long time so they told me that i would have to get a blood test. I was really nervous to see the results. My doctor said everything was normal. however i was just WONDERING If i had Hiv/AIDS or any type of STD would my dr. be able to tell me from my blood test results or would i have to go to a health clinic specifically for HIV/AIDS?

1 :
You have to take a special HIV/AIDS test
2 :
No, they do not routinely test for HIV or any other STD. If you have a concern about the possibility of having an STD you should discuss it with your doctor and appropriate testing can be done. You can also visit Planned Parenthood or any free clinic in your area.
3 :
you have to ask for a specific test for HIV, and sign a release to have it done. No, they do not automatically test for HIV, and no the doctor would not know if you had it from a basic chemistry panel or blood count.
4 :
Dr's cant test you with out your permission but your regular doc can test you for STDs and HIV/AIDs
5 :
NO they don't. If you are concerned go to www.hivtest.org and find a clinic in your area that does testing.

is there any physical wefeffects for someone who has had HIV/Aids

is there any physical wefeffects for someone who has had HIV/Aids ?

There can be a lot of different side effects. While the HIV+ person is adjusting to a new mediation(s) th
ey can get very ill, vomiting, diarrhea, upset stomach. If a person does not use the medications as directed there is no sense in taking the medication s it will not work. There has to be a 95% compliance for it to work. Long term survivors can have major side effects, I have a friend who needs a liver transplant because the HIV medications he has been taking for 25 years has caused his liver to starting to shut down. Everyone reacts differently.

What countries have been helping Africa with HIV AIDS and how

What countries have been helping Africa with HIV AIDS and how?

The U.S., for one, by providing drugs on the cheap in cooperation with drug companies. Sadly, all the money we're sinking into AIDS drugs would be better spent on providing Africans with mosquito netting and clean water services. Everyone in Africa, AIDS patients included, would benefit from that.

Can you get HIV/AIDS from having unprotected anal sex with someone who isn't HIV/AIDS positive

Can you get HIV/AIDS from having unprotected anal sex with someone who isn't HIV/AIDS positive?
