I get Yahoo HIV/AIDS Alerts and am troubled by what I have learned. Why is TV News silent?
People with HIV/AIDS are living much longer due to treatment, but if they do not avoid "HIV spreading behavior" (which according to reports they often do not) what will stop the spread? How long can we afford to treat, house and support them as the numbers escalate?

the TV for the most part isnt silent in showing the side that produces STD's as being good and wonderfull-why would they want to show the consequences of it right here on yahoo we got both sides too here are some comments on HIV Enjoy your binding contract to give half your money to a woman if it doesn't work out and your fantasy book. I'll be over here, kissing hot girls and risking STDs with glee. sad TRUE LOVE IS WORTH COMMITMENT AND EVERY CENT 0 0 by d_... people do this because they don't want to follow the bible or they don't know the truth of God's word. they also don't want to give up there life. they are fulfilling the lust of the flesh. i want to encourage anyone who is trying to live holy but is thinking that they are missing out on something. you're not missing out on anything. i've messed up twice and i felt to disgusting, like a piece of trash.SEX IS FOR MARRIAGE. why not be carefull and do it the right way-and prayin for your blood test too-either way give Jesus your heart-jOHN CHAPTER 3 REPENT OF SIN EVEN ONE LIE AND BE BORN AGAIN asking Jesus into your heart to forgive and help you and be your friend, amen---what have you got to lose? u got everything to lose the media needs to give the God side too-the answer to HIV AND AIDS

The only thing I can say is better education. If the GOV stops lying to us and we can be more honest to the people who dont have it and give them a real idea of the number that do, this would help. People need honest answers even of they are scarey. Kids need to learn to control desire, but they are so implusive, it makes it hard, and I don't think they get it. We need to see more kids on TV and at schools talking about HIV/Aids, I think that makes more of an impact and it should be mandatory that in EVERY SCHOOL in the USA grades 4 and up have to meet other kids with HIV. I dont think kids are ever to young to learn about STD's. The earlier they learn the more aware they are. As far as treatment and long term care, all we can do is be there for them and if we weren't spending billions to end life over seas, we could invest it in saving lives here at home.

Hi there, Remember, all news papers are biased. Period. Second, please do not generalize. Not everyone who is HIV+ engages in "HIV spreading behaviour". There are many HIV+ people who do have a moral conscious and do not willingly choose to infect unwilling people. How to stop the spread? We need more education regarding prevention as well as education that tears down the walls of stigma and shame that are often associated with being HIV+. There are also the stigmas associated with condom use, even such silly nonsense as real men do not use condoms. Plain and simple, if you are having sex and are not in a committed monagmous relationship where both partners have tested for hiv, then it should be wrapped. People should not even have to think twice otherwise. But people don't and the reasons why are as varried as the people themselves. Unless you want to psychoanalyse every person who has sex regarding their sexual practices and preferences, maybe then we will have a better understanding as to why people choose not to use protection. Cheers.

Would you have the TV people be brave enough to say that parents need to teach children about condoms? Most parents don't even get around to teaching their children anything about sex that the child hasn't already picked up on (whether right or wrong). Sex education is something a student can be left out of if the parent says so. Without sex education, more and more people WILL become infected and more people WILL die. More babies will be born with HIV, because people are not aware that the baby need not be, if delivered correctly.......and not breast fed by an HIV pos mother. Until we can all speak of HIV OUTLOUD, amongst ourselves, to our children, and in our schools...........the danger will remain. As far as housing and supporting those with HIV/AIDS, I haven't seen this going on. My son has HIV and lives with me. Did you think he was getting govt. money? He's not. I see people who are on drugs, having never worked a day in their lives, receiving disability checks every month. They are ON disability because they are ON drugs. That's a circle that goes 'round and 'round.

Does hiv/aids cause lmpyh nodes to swell and stay swollen

Does hiv/aids cause lmpyh nodes to swell and stay swollen?
Will this virus cause the lyph nodes to swell and stay swollen? or do they swell for a few months then go back down the swell again?

Well if your immune system is in a state of shock or disfunction, sometimes your lymph nodes will swell up and remain like that for up to three days. The best way to make the swelling go down is to drink some vinegar and rub your nodes while the vinegar is running down into your stomach. This should cause your swelling to subside. I hope this helps!

How do you get tested for HIV/AIDS

How do you get tested for HIV/AIDS?

STDs - 6 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Mouth swab at a free clinic.
2 :
it's a blood test or sometimes a saliva test. you can go to your county health department for a free test. you can also buy a test onlilne from cvs or walgreens, but this will involve drawing your own blood. it takes up to 6 months for HIV antibodies to show up in your blood after your potential exposure, so if you think you were exposed last month and you get tested this month and it's negative, you will still need to go back 6 months after the exposure to get re-tested.
3 :
It is just a simple blood test. You can have your doctor order for you.
4 :
a blood test at a doctors office or clinic
5 :
blood test! as in needle draw your blood ! a lab ,decides.
6 :
It depends where you test, it's either a mouth swab, a finger prick or a blood sample taken by a trained person.

how does circumcision contribute to the spread of HIV/AIDS

how does circumcision contribute to the spread of HIV/AIDS?
I would like a report on HIV/AIDS and the role circumcision plays in cabbing its spread

these site both have good info http://www.circumstitions.com/HIV.html http://aids.about.com/od/hivprevention/a/circumcision.htm good luck
2 :
Cabbing?
3 :
Google it and look at the studies. I've read them, and/or synopses of them online. Notice that they do not seem very convincing and the authors in some cases, as circumcision doctors, have competing interests. Note also that they only reduce the risk slightly, and if you're having many unsafe instances of intercourse with an infected person, you're probably going to get infected, circumcised or not. What would be best is simply wearing a condom, or not sleeping with possibly-infected strangers! Also notice that the USA has a high circumcision rate and really a high HIV rate. And that these studies ONLY apply to female-to-male transmission, but in many countries (outside of Africa basically) HIV infection is mostly in gay men.
4 :
if being cut stopped the spread of AIDS then there would be no cases in the middle east where they still mutilate all there boys against their will and America is one off the highest rate of AIDS yet nearly 70% of men over 25 are cut. What wrong with wearing a condom or not sleeping around. I'm intact and don't have AIDS because I don't sleep around.
5 :
Any medical tests to support this hypotesis would be unethical in extreme, as you would have to have people having unprotected sex with HIV infected partners... A CONDOM plays a role in stopping the transmission of any STD. HIV is spread through bodily fluids, not foreskins. Circumscision is totally irrelevant in the context of HIV transmission.

Can there be a chance HIV/AIDS/STDs wont be found till you keep getting check ups

Can there be a chance HIV/AIDS/STDs wont be found till you keep getting check ups?
I have a question, I have been doing researches and I wonder, even if you stopped having sex, but still had check ups every 6 months, and found negative, would there be a possiblity that they won't find out till later of years or months? And if you get inffected by HIV/AIDS/STDs can they find it in your blood right away when you get a check up?

i believe it's 2 months before you test positive for hiv. it depends on which std you have to detect in the blood. usually, they count white blood cells in the blood among other things for stds. for hiv, ELISA is the most widely used screening test. and now they have something called a tri-dot test that's almost instant. even if you come out positive in these, diagnosis needs to be confirmed by something called Western Blot. your doctor's office should have access to all of this. good luck.
2 :
Good question If you've been noticing something unusual dont be shy go see a gynecologist. And ask for a pelvic exam. Regular STD tests dont take long to get the results back, but HIV takes 2 months. If you're asking if it could be "missed" as in the doctor doesn't catch it, I highly doubt it.
3 :
if you still get checkups every six months that are negative, for say a year and a half, then it is very unlikely that you have hiv; in order for hiv antibodies to show up in your blood, it usually takes 2-6 months
4 :
HIV is unlikely if you've tested negative for a year or longer. that is because it takes that long for your white blood cells to get that hammered by teh replicating HIV. if you're under 30, they won't do a routine HPV DNA test on you. they'll do a pap and if they miss any abnormal cells, you could be at risk for cervical cancer. INSIST on a DNA test for HPV. they claim that because women under 30 most often fight off this virus on their own that we don't need the test, but i just had stage 3 HPV on my cervix and in a little longer it would have been cancer. i'm 28. i had been concerned about only getting a pap for years, but they never took me seriously. if your doc won't take you seriously, find a new one, because cancer is no joke and i've heard of 17-yr-olds getting it. also, if you're under 26, you can get the guardasil shots to give you immunity against 4 of the most common, worst HPV strains, including the one i have. btw- HPV is a skin virus and won't show up ever in yoru blood.
