is it common to have hiv/aids when you acquired gonorrhea or chlamydia? how many percent will i get it?
3 months ago i had sex with my ex girlfriend. she's 18 and I'm 21. sadly after the contact...I've been diagnosed with gonorrhea and i think it's cured with antibiotics. right now...my worry is... is it common to acquire HIV/AIDS from gonorrhea or other std? is there a big chance of getting it?

the problem is this.... many people are unaware of having chlamydia and gonorrhea and thus pass it on to their partners.. also those same people who are unaware are actually more prone to getting HIV/AIDS virus if in contact with it.. so lets say she was unaware of having gonorrhea, and she slept with some dude who let's say..was unaware of having HIV, she is now unaware of knowing she is at HIGHER RISK and thus contracts both HIV easier bc she had the previous gonorrhea infection.. that's why its sooo important to get tested with ur partner and wear condoms bc it can be very scary.. but dont get it confused.. not all people with HIV have some other STD..and not all people with a STD like gonorrhea will have HIV.. but its unfortunate, many of those who are unaware of having STD's are risking thier lives with partners who are unfaithful or their taking much risks by sleeping around with different people.. i dont want to scare u but i would for ur sake of mind get tested for HIV and other STD's.. bc obvisouly she either is messing around or had a previous partner who was messin around !

Can I get HIV/AIDS or any other STD from a feminine period bin in a bathroom

Can I get HIV/AIDS or any other STD from a feminine period bin in a bathroom?
Serious question. Can I get a disease or virus from my hand touching another persons used "stuff" in a sanitary napkin basket in a public restroom? I didn't mean to touch it...

No. STDs are transmitted through sex, not through handling garbage.
2 :
only if you had any cuts on your hand. dont worry about it you should be fine.
3 :
No. you can only get it if you have a cut on your hand, and if that cut gets into contact with that of an infected person

HIV/AIDS is just like any other STD, you have to have sex with someone who has it to catch it. HIV/AIDS is like any other STD, the carriers either don't know they have it, or don't care that they have it when they have sex with you. SO when you're promiscuous, you have a better chance of catching something than if you're not.
2 :
If someone has it and you engage in unprotected sex with someone with HIV/AIDS you get it. Not by having sex with 10 people that let's say don't have it. But then you could still be at risk with STD's as well.
3 :
If the first person that you have sex with has aids, you can get it then and there. It is also possible to have sex with 100 un-infected people and if none of them had EVER had sex with someone with HIV, then it is impossible for you to get HIV from that person. That is why they recommend always wearing a condom. How can you look at someone and say that they never had sex with 1 infected person? If you just go bar hopping and take home anything that you find, your chance of finding a person who has also bar hopped and hopped with someone that is already infected, then you are likely to catch something quickly. If you start having sex with someone that has had 10 partners, and those 10 had sex with say 10 partners each, then there are 100 people that must have been clean in order to be sure that every one of them was clean. Take a average working girl that might have had sex 3 times a day and 200 days a year, that is 600 partners, and each partner is probably had 3-15 partners before meeting this hooker, so that is over 5,000 people who must have been clean for this working girl to still be clean. The chance for a working girl to stay clean is very rare. After 1,000 partners, she has a very high chance of having sex with someone how had sex with someone that was not clean. The math says it all. To insure you never have a STD, make sure that you marry someone without experience, and don't go exploring outside of that relationship. It is still possible to get a STD, but it will be something easy to treat, such as a yeast infection.

STD's are everywhere. I work in family medicine. And I commonly see very young people infected. Please be careful. Use protection. Gonorrhea and chlymidia are very common. A person can have HIV for years before they know they are infected. You get an STD from having sex with someone who is infected but don't assume that they aren't infected. They could be without even knowing it. The first time you need to go to the doctor and have a swab pushed into your penis to culture it, you'll decide to be smarter.
5 :
You can not get HIV (virus that can lead to AIDS) from someone who does not have it. However, since HIV does not have any symptoms until years after infection, you can not tell just by looking at someone that they are infected. Once someone is infected, they CAN transmit the virus, even if they do not have any symptoms, and even if they do not yet test positive. More than 98% of people would test positive within 3 months. In very rare cases, it could take up to 6 months for someone to test positive. Your risk of being infected increases the more sexual partners you have because there is more of a risk that at least one of them will be infected. Remember, your multiple partners could have multiple partners of their own, putting them at higher risk, therefore putting you at higher risk. Also: You could have multiple exposures and not get infected, or you could have unprotected sex with an infected person only ONCE and get infected.
6 :
You need to have unprotected sex with someone who is HIV+ in order to become infected. It only takes one time. It doesn't matter how many partners a person has if they are using protection.
7 :
LINDA R gave you a straight answer. Of course, someone has to be infected with HIV before they can infect you. It doesn't just come out of thin air. One encounter with an HIV+ partner is enough to infect you. But repeated exposure over 12 years and you can still be HIV-. I know now.

How can the govt enforce this law? [deals with HIV/AIDs]

How can the govt enforce this law? [deals with HIV/AIDs]?
"You are legally required to tell any sexual partner that you are HIV postive, even if you intend on having safe sex." ???? HELP!

They dont, its not a real law, wherever you heard this, its a lie.
2 :
They can definitely enforce this because if you have HIV and have sex with someone without telling them, you're putting them at risk for a life-long eventual deadly virus.
3 :
If you plan to gap someone make sure you tell you got the monster or the gov will throw you in a crypt.
4 :
This may sound silly, but if it were me, I would send an email saying "I am HIV+:" and keep the email. If you do the responsible thing, tell your partner, and do what you can to keep them safe, then it is very unlikely (VERY unlikely) that this would become an issue. But on the off chance that you were to tell someone, and they actually caught HIV - even with precautions - then you are indeed vulnerable to a he-said / she-said (or a he-said / he-said or a she-said / she-said to be fair). Truly, there is no way for anyone to prove that you did or did not tell .... unless you can produce a document that proves that you told. And an email would do that. This is, in my definition, a perfect example of bad law. The intention is good - make sure that people who are HIV tell their partners about the risk of HIV before they become intimate. But the actual implication - the need to PROVE that you informed them of the risk - only leaves the infected partner vulnerable. Great question.
5 :
I believe it would be becuase hiv can and will eventually turn to aids and knowing you have it and passing it on to someone is like murder I know it seems harsh,i've benn tested cause i say if i had something wrong i would want to know so i can be careful around others, thankfully i was negative, but if someone gave it to me weither or not they can prolong my life i would feel they robbed me of my freedom and to know you can die from it feels like they just murdered you ,i am sorry to say it like that but i would probably go to the cucko house if that happened to me.
6 :
YES! Because, if the condom break then you just killed some one medically and you can serve time in prison or be issued a huge fine. Also, you can be sued.

Are people actually aware of the danger of being affected with HIV/AIDS and other STDs

Are people actually aware of the danger of being affected with HIV/AIDS and other STDs?
I read the statistics last night to get the precise numbers on who is affected and how many, and I am proud to say I'm a 'bonafied virgin :-) I was already cautious about even dating, but now I wonder if I could really trust men to tell the truth. Here's the link so you can inform yourself on what others won't tell you: http://www.avert.org/ Only you can protect yourself!

Most people that I know are well aware of the dangers of HIV/AIDS and other STDs. The act of just having sex itself is not the problem - its knowing your partner's history, and whether or not they're being truthful to you as far as their HIV status. Prime example - One of my best friends, "Tom" (not his real name) was bisexual, married to a woman for 20 years. She died from cancer 10 years ago, and after that, Tom decided to pursue a gay life. On his very first visit to a gay bar, Tom met "Dan" (not his real name) and was instantly smitten. Tom and Dan began a whirlwind romance, they were very happy together for about 5 years, and then Dan announced to Tom as well as the rest of his friends that he was HIV positive, and had been positive for 10 years, he KNEW he was positive but never told Tom, and they had been having unprotected sex for 5 years. Dan had told Tom several times over those 5 years that he was negative, that he had continued to test negative, and this was all a lie. Tom got an HIV test almost immediately, and unfortunately, the test result came up positive. Tom remained healthy and vibrant for the next 5 years, he was perhaps one of my best friends, if not my #1 best friend, he was the kindest, gentlest, most understanding, humorous, loving man I've ever known, and he had 5 good years after testing positive. Then, in January 2010, Tom got a cold that wouldn't go away. The first week of February, Tom drove himself to the hospital and was admitted to a regular nursing floor with Pneumocystic Carinii Pneumonia (common in people with full blown AIDS). He spent two weeks with his condition remaining the same, he wasn't getting any better. February 20, Tom developed blood clots (DVTs) in his legs, and his blood pressure was low, so he was transferred to the ICU (intensive care unit). On February 21, Tom developed bleeds in his stomach and intestines. He was taken for surgery twice to stop the bleeding, and, every time, the bleeding began again within hours after surgery. Tom died February 24, 2010 at 9:11pm at the age of 49. I was at his bedside holding his hand when he died, I saw him take his last breath. Tom's death was perhaps the saddest thing that I've ever been through in my life, I still grieve and will for a long time, I can't believe he's gone. This didn't have to happen. Tom didn't lead a dangerous life. Tom wasn't promiscuous. Tom didn't sleep around, he didn't have one night stands, he never cheated on any partner he was with. But because Dan wouldn't be truthful about his HIV status, my best friend is dead. Meanwhile, Dan is on the HIV meds and is healthy. He posts things on Facebook and MySpace about how much he misses he "lover" Tom, and I see him posting things such as "I'm looking to meet a nice man who I can spend the rest of my life with"....I wonder if he'll tell the next one that he's positive, or if he'll murder a few more people too.
