never thought they were. its just unfortunate that certain people get it of there own fault, many don't tho, and that's the unfortunate part.
2 :
People fear what they don't understand and the reality is that it is a deadly dangerous disease and even with it being so specific in transmission it is very hard for people to be comfortable with a deadly infectious disease amidst them.

wat happens to sumone who has hiv/aids and has not got tested, do they just die are do they die frm being sick

wat happens to sumone who has hiv/aids and has not got tested, do they just die are do they die frm being sick
when sumones has hiv/aids and doe's not get treated do they just die are do they die of a cold are something? are sum illness that occurs through there immune system...........

1 :
It's quite often Aids-related. The immune system is so low it is very susceptible to any illness that comes along, even a weak one.
2 :
you dont actually die from HIV/aids, the virus kills your immune system and keeps your body from fighting of germs, bacteria, infection, from lack of antibodies. so technically you die from common illness like cold and flue not from aids
3 :
Well, after they have possibly infected people they care about, and endangered the lives of the ones he loves... they will have the HIV until they convert to full blown AIDS. At that time their immune system will be wiped out and they will get sick time and time again, and eventually die bitter and alone. But if they get tested, treated and get support they can live a long life and be safe and have real relationships and die from old age. Why do you ask?
4 :
First of all, the last stage is AIDS, which breaks down your immune system. My step-brother died from AIDS, and he did not know he was infected until he went to the doctor. Some people get sympthoms and some don't. Get tested first, once you find out your status then follow up with a doctor.
5 :
yep they die.. unfortunately, there is no turning back.. i rather commit suicide than to die bc of AIDS.
6 :
illness that occurs through there imune system make them sick and if they dont get tested early they lose weight and eventual die
7 :
Being HIV+, I think there should be mandatory HIV testing. And just like everyone else has said, you don't actually die from HIV - you die from opportunistic infections which include the common cold/flu. That's why HIV+ people have to get tested every 3 months to check on their viral load (the amount of virus) and their CD4 (white blood cells).
8 :
who has HIV/AIDS and has not got tested will be ignorant of the source of his sickness anytime is down he may die just like that without been treated.he may suffer from cold, fever etc.
9 :
No one dies from HIV/AIDS. A person who is HIV positive which has developed into full-blown AIDS can potentiall die because AIDS severely compromises your immune system, making it very difficult for a person to fight-off infections. It also causes a person to become much more susceptible to extremely dangerous infections that can ultimately lead to one's death. That said, it's HIGHLY unlikely that a person will go along through life having HIV/AIDS, not knowing it, and suddenly die. Typically a person with advanced AIDS begins experiencing a number of illnesses, many times illnesses that are not common to the general populace. When being treated for these illnesses it's likely a person will be diagnosed.
10 :
ok actually its jus like this u have sex with a female or male who has it and the stuff which is aids gets on to u and as it develop in you it starts to break down your body which means u can leave forever with aids even if u have the full blown..beacuse it mani;yt jus ony stops your immune system from fighting off the germs..so if u are a person who doesn't really catch colds that much then u have a chance of living a while but ig u always catch colds most likely ur going to suffer cause adis is serious but either way u need 2 be careful (PLZ VOTE BEST ANSWER)

Who knows where the HIV/Aids virus came from

Who knows where the HIV/Aids virus came from?
I don't want any stupid "people had sex with monkeys" answers. If anyone really knows, I'd like the information, please. Also, are certain blood types more susceptible to infection?

a white man in south africa was mixing shyt he had no business doing and injected it inot test subjects
2 :
you'll find some good info here http://www.avert.org/origins.htm
3 :
not exactly known, may transporting monkeys( by some people ) transmitted SIV(a kind of virus) to them ,had mutation or some other changes to make HIV.
4 :
It started in Africa. I'm not sure if anyone knows the exact reason.
5 :
it is true that it start as zoonotic disease that is acquired through animal it is written that it is from monkeys of american area virus has been isolated from them there is no ralation between blood group and infection suceptibility
6 :
Apparently it is a mutant chimpanzee virus. Maybe someone cut their finger while they were butchering a chimpanzee. It's believed that most of our infectious diseases are mutant forms of germs we got from animals, especially domesticated animals.
7 :
Researchers now believe AIDs/HIV actually was picked up in the 1920s and gradually spread over time. No one know where AIDs came from. Researchers believe that as transportation improved (planes, ships) people began to travel to remove areas of the word. There in the remote places was the disease and people brought it back to the rest of the population.

Discrimination against HIV/AIDS patients is due mainly to ignorance, misinformation, or both. There are still millions of people that believe that HIV/AIDS is a "gay" or "IV drug user [junkie]" disease; and that it can be transmitted via casual contact [shaking hands, using public toilets, and so on]. The other two questions should be posted separately, in the apropriate sections of Yahoo Answers.

if there were a cure for HIV/AIDS would gays be more accepted

if there were a cure for HIV/AIDS would gays be more accepted.?
i'm not saying that only gay people hav hiv/aids. thats society's generalization. also why do religious people attack gays when most this society expects and encourages heterosexual sex outside marriage. for people who hate on gays, heteros are worse because you CHOOSE to have sex outside of marriage, whereas gay people are denied the right to marry.

No, gays would be more acceptable if the feminine fairy ones didn't give you a bad name :P
2 :
Perhaps. But then again knowing people...they'll just find something else to complain about regarding the gay community.
3 :
Yeah, I understand what you mean. But I'm a religious person, and I DEFINITELY do not hate gay people. That's really stupid to HATE another human being. I don't agree with gay practices, but whatever! That's me. I don't accept the practices and say they're ok, but I'm also not going to criticize a gay person and act like I'm better than them. The key word is PERSON. Gay PEOPLE are people, so no one has ANY right to treat them wrong. And please, don't say that heterosexuals are WORSE because everything is on the same line. Fornication just isn't acceptable for anyone to do it... (in my opinion) No one should be having sex out of marriage. But of course I'm just old-fashioned. Whatever, lol. And you do know that there are plenty of gays who have sex without wanting to get married right.... lol. All in all, we're all on the same level so no one deserves to be treated like crap. We're all human. --- Oh yeah, and Wisdom is right. I forgot to respond to the actual question, lol. No I don't think cures for HIV/AIDS would help gays any, because ANYTHING that even seems to change or seems to be opposite of society just will not be accepted. PERIOD. Sad to say. But that's the problem with prejudices and discrimination. It's all fear of change, and I think that fear's gonna be for a long time.
4 :
I don't know, the most active haters will always find a new reason to hate.
5 :
Possibly, but not likely.
6 :
HIV/AIDS doesn't ever discriminate, persons do.
7 :
Haters will find more reasons to hate. Their AIDS-related insults have really nothing to do with AIDS FYI (making fun of people because the group is thought to suffer from a higher prevalence of a disease).
8 :
I reckon the incidence of HIV among gay men is the same as in the populace in general. Nuns and housewives are rarely urged to "go and get tested" for HIV, gay man are a constant target, so they do, and lo and behold ... Anyway, we should be wary about that HIV=AIDS scenario. Some very serious scientists doubt the correlation.
9 :
regardless of whether a cure could be found or not most peoiple wills till think of them as being immoral, degenerate, perverts.
10 :
If someone doesn't accept gays now, they never will. They will continue to berate us whether we have strong families, whether or not were promiscuous whether or not we do everything right. Someone will have a reason to hate gays

When people get HIV/Aids is there a US Governmental agency that collects this data

When people get HIV/Aids is there a US Governmental agency that collects this data?
I donated blood and the brouchure said that if I were to have HIV/Aids that they would contact the "Officials". I'm 99.5% certain I don't have HIV/Aid's, but I've never heard of a US Government agency who collects this data either.

Yes, CDC, centre of disease control.
2 :
The local health and they in turn sends it to the CDC in Washington. ( Center for Disease Control)
3 :
..then how do we get the figures of the number of Americans living with AIDS????
4 :
notifiation centre in ministry of health
5 :
I don't think they meant that men in black suits and ties are going to drag you away. But they wanna get the point across that giving blood when you have AIDS is like trying to slip poisons into water resevoirs... and they will investigate, and if necessary, prosecute. I can't see any reason why a government - even one as secretive and clandestine (good word) as ours would have it out for AIDS victims... especially when we've done so well to head off the former epidemic.
6 :
Yes any time someone gets diagnosed with a disease that is highly dangerous to someone else it is reported to the goverment and CDC(center for disease control). your name, license # and SSN # gets recorded in a data base and is reported to any place that you may try to donate body fluids to. The record is called microfish. This is also done with people who have other diseases too. Not just HIV or Aids. All Drs and Medical facilities are required by federal law to report this information. You dont have a choice.
7 :
I don't know about U.S. policy but in Canada there is such a list (confidential of course) that keeps data on people with HIV/AIDS. I guess it's one way of them to know how fast or slow this disease is being spread.
8 :
Yes, HIV is a reportable infection, and medical personnel must report all cases to the CDC.

Africa and why so many people have HIV/AIDS

Africa and why so many people have HIV/AIDS?
how come so many people inculding men, women and children are effected by this disease? more then An estimated of 5.2 million people were living with HIV and AIDS in South Africa, and 607,184 people died from it. why don't they practice safe sex and use condoms? i understand that Poor Education is the cause but what about programs that fund to feed them, like feed the children don't they teach the parents about the dangers of diseases and what effects it has on their lifes?
STDs - 9 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
A myriad of reasons from poor education, poor funding, Christian interference...just ask the pope.
2 :
because most of them are to poor to afford them and they havent been educated about safe sex
3 :
Condoms cost money, and they are poor. Many are ignorant of the cause.
4 :
poverty
5 :
It was in the Times article and I just don't remember what date was that! It said the people who are HIV+ believe that if they had unprotective sex with a minor, they would free from AID/HIV+.
6 :
It is due to lack of education and knowledge, poverty and unprotected sex with multiple partners. It is believed that HIV AIDS spread to other places from Africa and therefore naturally they would have more infected people without a proper AIDS education and control program.
7 :
In Africa its mostly about hygene. Dirty needels, poor unsantiary conditions, improper medical supplies, almost no condom use. Also, it has been reported, although not confirmed, that resistance to HIV is far lower in africans then other races. Even in the USA, black people suffer HIV rates SIGNIFICANTLY higher then that of whites.
8 :
Bitch listen to yourself you sound so damn dumb they are poor as you said they probably don't even know what a condom is even though u white ask your parents they can catch it Too
9 :
In Africa, many people believe that if they have HIV, they will be cured if they have unprotected sex with a virgin. Of course, this only results in a high rate of rape of young people, and the spread of the virus. Also, poor prenatal care/lack of access to medication is a factor. If womenwho are pregnant and who have HIV do not take medications and take care of themselves, there is a good chance that their babies will be born with HIV. Breastfeeding is also encouraged in Africa, and since HIV is found in breast milk, women who have HIV can pass the virus on to their babies through breastfeeding as well. You mention Feed the Children programs. These programs have to do with making sure people are fed better, not making sure they get proper education.
