my GP ordered a blood test as routine for my annual check up. does it also scan for HIV AIDS?
what does a general blood test check for?

General blood tests look for complete blood count and SMA 12: platelets, leukocytes, red blood cells, bilirubin, etc. The test does not look for a specific virus, but may detect an immune system reaction to one.

No, unless you specifically ask to be tested for HIV.

they usually do a cmp, cbc and possibly cholesterol levels. it does not include a hiv aids test unless you specifically ask for one. you would know if you were drawn for one because you have to sign a special consent.
