Why are there so many gay men with HIV/AIDS

Why are there so many gay men with HIV/AIDS?
Alot of people say that HIV/AIDS come from gay men. Obviously that's not true, but why are there so many gay men with HIV/AIDS? How can we stop this?

I don't know, but none of my ex boyfriends were HIV positive, and I'm not either.

The disease was originally designed to cull the monkey population. It is man made. How it got from the monkey population to the human population is something I'm not sure I want to think about. It is true that the disease spread through the gay population fairly quickly. But to say they are to blame is going a little far.... It was man made. Blame the man who made it. And NoHomo - that is true, but there are far far far more heterosexual people in the world than there are homosexual. Percentage wise, it is much higher for the homosexual population (in western countries, of course - in Africa it affects mainly the heterosexual population). We can stop HIV/AIDS spreading through education and contraception, and that is pretty much all we can do until we find a cure.

its easier for guys to get it from other guys as opposed to guys getting it from a girl. when me have intercourse, it slightly tears the anal tissue and if the other person has it, your pretty much guaranteed to get it. Not trying to offend anyone, i love the gays! :D

Education and prevention. But there are other groups of people with alarmingly high HIV rates. And in some countries, the disease is spread almost entirely by heterosexual contact. The bottom line is that people should practice safe sex. Regularly.

why are there so many drug users with aids, why are there some many straight people with aids? do some research, it effects just as many straight people especially in Africa.

Because you're reading a newspaper from the 70s Gay men didn't know they had to use condoms. Condoms where advertised and taught as protection from pregnancy, not STDs. They thought, 'hey, I can't get a man pregnant!'

I dont think they get Aids often. However,if they are always putting themselves about you have to wonder if they going to get any STDS.

they dont wear condoms and they oral is obviously limited to headjobs, handies and anal.. most dont wear condoms coz they feel its different to being with a women and so no one will have it.. coz i mean when yu root a chick yu wear one, but when yu root a guy its different.. you can stop this by tellin all gay people you meet to wear one, maybe makin your own signs to put on poles about gay awareness, go to a gay bar and put the same signs in toilets, ask the managers if they have condom machines and if not suggest they do. or make a petition for the local news paper or news crew or what ever to help raise STD's for gays.

You're right in saying that it doesn't come from gay men, it's spread by body fluid transfer. It's similar to a disease that monkeys get, but, Lilybelle, I'm not sure of it being manufactured and introduced to control the monkey population, surely there would be easier ways, and was this sort of technology around in the 1970's when it all started? It happens with gay men having unprotected sex, and so it spread quite quickly through the gay population, partly because a proportion of gay men are promiscuous. The only way to guarantee to stop it is to not have sex. Protected sex is a very close second. Hope this helps

Two reasons, one is definite, the other is a matter of opinion: Definite: - Pregnancy is not a possibility, therefore condoms are less likely to be used. Since the late 1980s, this is less true, as awareness of HIV/AIDS has increased and more precautions are being taken. A matter of opinion (some will argue that this is statistically proven, but I disagree, as many of the studies conducted are prejudiced... but that is another story): - Gay relationships are SAID to be (I repeat, I personally disagree with this) more promiscuous. I.e.: more sex with more people equals more likelihood of contracting HIV. Those are the only two reasons that have been substantiated in studies etc. They both are supported by evidence in trials etc. - however, whether or not one can believe these trials is another matter altogether. Hope this helps.
