Am I more susceptible to getting HIV/AIDS or STDS if my husband and I become swingers?

duh...
2 :
duh!! thats totally a given
3 :
Yes. Of course.
4 :
this is really a question? bc i think you answered it.
5 :
yep, each additional partner increases the risk
6 :
The disease spreads easily by sexual intercourse especially in a non-safe encounter (without condoms). Both partners invoving in such life would greatly incease the chances of contracting HIV/AIDS than abstaining from this behaviour.
7 :
u said it right....are you tired of life?.....
8 :
Yes you are and athough i wouldnt do what you are thinking of doing....there is such a thing as protection...no different from single ppl having multiple partners...they use protection
9 :
I can't believe with all the STD's out there you would even consider becoming swingers.
10 :
Honest answer, yes. If a swinger swings with swingers whom you know nothing about, you are highly at risk, and so it your husband. Is it your husband idea? Say NO!!! That is not a form of 'love' under any circumstances. There are better ways to deal with stress than resorting to Bonobo behaviour. It is very 'primitive', and we are not monkeys.
11 :
Yes
12 :
Yes you can.It only takes one time to ruin your life. The only way that it wouldn't is to have everyone tested before hand.
13 :
The more partners you have, the more you are putting yourself at risk for not only HIV/AIDS, but to all other STD's.
14 :
Do you even need to ask that? Of course you do. The more sexual partners you have, the higher the risk. Swingers, hey? How disgusting is that. What kind of relationship do you have? Not a very good one by the sounds.
15 :
The more partners you have, the more you are at risk at contracting anything. Even if everyone is using condoms. Remember, the condom does not cover the entire area. It is like playing russian roulette. Good luck.
16 :
Yes, and no. Yes, anytime you are not totally monogamous you increase your risk of getting a sexually transmitted disease. That said, you minimize those risks by practicing safe sex. Also, safe sex is the rule amongst swingers, not the exception. You'll find that condom use amongst swingers is exponentially higher than it is amongst college kids and singles at clubs and bars. Plus, many swingers get tested for STD's on a regular basis. No swinger wants to contract something and jeapordize their or their spouse's health. It's supposed to be about having fun, and that would not be fun. So yes, you could contract something, but your much less at risk than you were when you were single and dating.

How many people know of any obscure websites that claim to reveal the cure for HIV/AIDS

How many people know of any obscure websites that claim to reveal the cure for HIV/AIDS?

www.alexchiu.com claims to have the cure for literally everything. It's... really sad, depressing, and infuriating all at the same time.

do you?? now im curious
3 :
PHASE I TRIAL OF AN AIDS VACCINE FOR INDIA This is a Phase-I trial of a newly developed experimental AIDS vaccine Objective of the trial: To evaluate the safety of the vaccine and its ability to generate immune response in HIV-uninfected, healthy volunteers. This international multi-centric trial is being conducted by the National AIDS Research Institute, Pune, under the joint auspices of the National AIDS Control Organization (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India), the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and sponsored by the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI). THE TRIAL VACCINE The vaccine being tested is called tgAAC09. The vaccine does not contain HIV virus. Therefore the volunteers cannot get infected with HIV from this vaccine. This is a preventive vaccine intended for people who are not infected with HIV and not for persons living with HIV. It is not a drug for AIDS. This particular vaccine has been tested in animals prior to this trial. Data from animal and pre-clinical studies indicate that the vaccine was safe and was well tolerated, allowing testing in human beings. This Phase-I trial is currently ongoing in two European countries, Belgium and Germany where fifty volunteers have already received this vaccine in whom it was found to be safe. This vaccine will be tested for the first time in human beings in India at NARI in Pune. Three groups of volunteers will receive three different doses of vaccine (low, medium and high) and the volunteer may be in any one of these groups. The vaccine will be given intramuscularly in the upper arm. Who can participate in this trial? 30 volunteers will participate in this clinical trial. Volunteers must fulfill the following criteria to be able to participate in the trial: Men or women between 18 and 50 years of age Healthy, HIV-uninfected and at low risk for HIV infection People living in and around Pune and available for all visits scheduled during the study Literate, who can give written informed consent Willing to avoid pregnancy from screening until four months after the vaccination Who cannot participate? Persons with the following conditions will not be able to participate in the trial HIV- infected or practicing high risk behaviour for HIV infection Pregnant or lactating women Presence of chronic disease, mental disorders and physical disability Recently received vaccine, blood or blood products History of allergic reactions to vaccination How will this trial be conducted? The 30 volunteers will be assigned to one of three dosage groups (low, medium or high dosage). Each group will include 10 volunteers, of which 8 will receive the vaccine and 2 will receive the placebo. Placebo is a substance that looks similar to the experimental vaccine but has no active ingredient. Participants will have to agree to vaccine either the vaccine or the placebo. Neither the volunteer nor the researchers will know who has received the placebo or the vaccine until the end of the trial. This is called double blinding. Study procedures Screening, Enrollment & Follow up visits Screening: Signing informed consent for screening, tests and evaluation. Medical history & physical examination Blood tests including HIV test, Urine examination Enrollment: Informed consent for enrollment A test to assess the adequacy of comprehension (Multiple choice test) Vaccination: Single injection of the trial vaccine in the arm. Follow-up: Follow up for 12 months 10 visits to clinic as per schedule and 2 additional contacts by phone or home visit HIV test at 3 of these visits Blood will be collected at 6 of these visits Possible risks and discomforts As after any injection, participants may experience some mild or moderate reaction at the injection site (redness, swelling, pain and tenderness, and in very rare cases, the formation of a scab and skin discoloration), reactions that will only be temporary. Participants may also experience mild fever, chills, headache, nausea, fatigue, vomiting, malaise, mild muscular pain and joint pain. Participants may not experience any of them. Like any new drug or vaccine, there is a possibility of a totally unexpected side effect, although previous testing with other vaccines in other countries indicates that this vaccine is quite safe. This clinical trial is not designed to study whether tgAAC09 can protect against HIV infection (efficacy). Therefore participants must avoid any behaviour that may put them at risk of contracting HIV. Participants should not consider themselves protected from HIV after receiving the injection It is not known what effect/s the test vaccine might have on an unborn child. Therefore women participating in the trial should use a reliable form of contraception until four months after the injection. Participating men are also advised to use condoms. Some important features: Study approved by: Ethics committee (NARI and ICMR) Drug Controller General of India Health Ministry Govt. of India) Monitoring according to international standards. Special efforts to protect the rights of the volunteers. Complete confidentiality regarding participant related information. Compensations for transport expenses and loss of wages at every visit. Full treatment for Trial related injuries free of charge. Medical insurance for trial unrelated medical events requiring hospitalization. Contact details: For any questions or to know more about the trial, the volunteers may contact Dr. Sanjay Mehendale (Principal Investigator) at: AIDS Vaccine Trial Unit National AIDS Research Institute, P.O.Box 1895, Bhosari, Pune, India. Tel: 020-27121342/43, Fax: 020-27121071 Community Office at Prashant Society, Plot No. 17, Paud Road, Pune 411029 Tel: 020-25458117 Email: smehendale@nariindia.org Website: www.nari-icmr.res.in

What is the HIV/AIDS survival rate in the U.S

What is the HIV/AIDS survival rate in the U.S?
I hear that earlier a person detects HIV and is treated for the for condition , the better the outcome .
STDs - 2 Answers

1 :
The answer to that right now is 0% There is no cure. The length of time one lives after diagnosis depends on a lot of factors. There are many different strains of HIV/AIDS... Some more virulent than others. Also, yes, it does depend on how soon you are treated, and if you are compliant with meds.
2 :
A common question with a complicated answer. To ask the survival rate of HIV/AIDS assumes that someone can "outlive" the virus in their body, i.e. be cured. That people have continued to live for a longer time with it inside them has been attributed to research and the science of medicine as well as understanding and utilizing the other healthful sources of immune strength, such as nutrition, exercise, complimentary care and even a "positive" mental health check-up. It is the knowledge that this virus is working non-stop to usurp and destroy the body's immune (defense) system that emphasizes the survival benefit of early detection and treatment, whether that includes antiretroviral meds or not. Sometimes the toxicity of the combination of treatments over time can do damage that shortens survival. Most times, ignoring the problem is what hurts a person's prognosis the most. I encourage questions on the science of HIV and its destructive power to, when left unchecked, progressively lead a person to an AIDS diagnosis. But leave NO doubt, this is a proven, deadly virus. The citations provided by another respondent are from a single, small but loud, group of people, some with backgrounds in medicine or science that they walked away from long before drawing their present conclusions about HIV. And they themselves have experienced losses among their ranks from untreated HIV infection. Consider those sources and then look at the overwhelming majority of the world's most respected people in these fields who report on their findings every year at conferences like the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections (CROI, held this past month in Los Angeles) and the US Conference on AIDS. Go online to the many other sources of information, like thebody.com and aegis.com. Back to the question of survival, all those who are alive with HIV are survivors, for the time being. If they die from anything else, they were survivors. But, can anyone today live longer than the HIV inside their own body? That survival rate is still 0%.

Can guy get born with HIV aids

Can guy get born with HIV aids?
or is it just girls that pass it on to guys? Can u get it without having sex with a girl. Could it just be there for a guy? Please and thanks for answering!

HiV, yes. But not full blown AIDS.
2 :
any one can get hiv/aiids not just men,if the mother as aids she could pass it on to the new born the same with hiv,its the men who pass it on to the woman that is bi males who go with men and girls MB
3 :
No one is born with AIDS. Babies can be born with HIV infections passed on to them by their mothers but 9 times out of 10, it will be an anticipated event and not a complete surprise. "or is it just girls that pass it on to guys?" -- Infections can be passed on to newborns but there are also ways to help prevent this. An HIV infection can be transmitted to a fetus or during delivery. And it can be transmitted to female babies just as easily as to males. AND men transmit HIV infections to other men AND to women. DO NOT get the idea that only women transmit the virus and you guys are just victims. Also please do not use the terms "girls" unless you also use the word "boys". To do otherwise is offensive. Say women and men. "Can u get it without having sex with a girl" -- Where on this planet have you lived all this time? If you were HIV infected, a man could become infected by having anal sex with you. So, yes, "you can get it without having sex with a [woman]". "Could it just be there for a guy?" -- This question is illogical.
4 :
Well, historically first people who were found with newly discovered viral disease were MSM - men that have sex with men. This is why it was even called initially the Gay-Related Immune Deficiency Syndrome (GRID). The reason is that rectal epithelium is very fragile and transmission is more likely to occur during passive gay sex. Semen is considered to be most important vehicle for HIV transmission. Women are more likely to get HIV from men than vice versa because there are more surface in the women genitalia that get in contact with the viral particles contained in semen. Circumcised men are less likely to get infected themselves but their circumcision does not decrease risk of transmission to their female (and male) partners.; http://www.metapathogen.com/HIV-1/HIV-1-transmission.html Answering your q directly: you might not to catch it from HIV-infected woman if your member is healthy; you might get it even if you never were with woman but were with man, got contaminated blood transfusion or needle stick injury, were breast fed by HIV infected woman in childhood, etc.

Why is HIV/AIDS still a problem in Africa and other under developed countries

Why is HIV/AIDS still a problem in Africa and other under developed countries?

STDs - 3 Answers

1 :
its a problem in the US, too. but our media doesnt report on it the way it shold.
2 :
Because there is no cure and people are going to continue to have sex without requiring their partner to take a HIV test first.
3 :
Mostly because the kids over there are being born with that diease, also there's hardly any adults because they die from that diease, lack of food, etc. So the kids well they're unknowing, and suppose they have sex with many different people and one person has the diease, and is having sex with many other people, it's going to get passed around quickly, the people who had sex with this person, go and have sex with other people too and therefore it's getting passed on and so forth. Remember they don't have our religions either so that means they don't have to be married or a certain age to have sex. The United States maybe more developed than them, but its still a problem in the US, and it isn't reported as much as it should be.... Hope it answered your question.

HIV/AIDS does anything show up in tests other than AIDS test

HIV/AIDS does anything show up in tests other than AIDS test?
I recently had bloodworks done. I was tested for many different things but not HIV. The doctor said there was nothing unusual in all of my tests. If I was HIV pos, would there be anything unusual in my other tests? I don't haver the details of what was tested but there were about 20 things and everything came back normal. Is the HIV test the only test that shows any signs of HIV?
STDs - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You were not tested for HIV unless it was specifically ordered. If that had been the case, you would know, because of the paperwork that must be done for it. You could be HIV positive and nothing unusual would show up in the other tests because that's not what they are looking at. The only way you would know if you were HIV positive is to be specifically tested for that, and you have to request the test.
2 :
There might be some abnormalities which may be suspicious and lead a doctor to order the test. If your white blood count is high or a low t-cell count...

Is HIV/AIDs transmitted through the bite of a mosquitoe? Again, is it found in the human saliva? Are we safe

Is HIV/AIDs transmitted through the bite of a mosquitoe? Again, is it found in the human saliva? Are we safe?
HIV AIDs being a fatal diseases is transmitted in various ways through contact with blood. the virus lives in human blood.Sexual contact and blood transfusion are the common routes of transmission. The world through the maximum efforts of WHO is well sensitised but many particularly in the tropics and sub tropics turn to neglect. Mosquitoes do not transmit the adove Infection. We know that the virus lives in blood. Mosquitoes only feed on human blood meaning that, its saliva has to work on the blood and from my point of view, the virus cannot survive in it Again, once bitten, a mosquitoe will hardly visit another person immediately since it has to spend some time on the food(Blood). Again when bitten by a mosquitoe, if one happens to kill it immediately, it will be discovered that the blood for its feeding will clot without much delay hence the virus will hardly survive in such blood The world is not safe since unfaithfulness remains order of the day and many neglect AIDS/STI control.

1 :
The short answer is no, you don't have to worry about mosquitos. Below is a link to a very informative site on the subject. Regarding saliva, here's what the US National Institute of health has to say: Although researchers have found HIV in the saliva of infected people, there is no evidence that the virus is spread by contact with saliva. Laboratory studies reveal that saliva has natural properties that limit the power of HIV to infect, and the amount of virus in saliva appears to be very low. Research studies of people infected with HIV have found no evidence that the virus is spread to others through saliva by kissing. The lining of the mouth, however, can be infected by HIV, and instances of HIV transmission through oral intercourse have been reported. Scientists have found no evidence that HIV is spread through sweat, tears, urine, or feces.
2 :
Not by the bite of the mosquito. But it is transmitted through the saliva.
